The bedroom wishlist.. (P1 of making a new build house a home)

As many of you may know I recently moved into a new build house.. A completely blank canvas to personalise and make our own. I was soon excited at first but when moving day came I realised it was a sightly overwhelming task. Make a house a home from a blank, empty shell.

So in looking for home inspo and decorating hacks I found an overwhelming amount of amazing ideas on Pinterest and Instagram, there are so many home / interior accounts to follow and like many, I got hooked.

So trying to personalise a new home all at once is a little overwhelming, both financially and mentally! So we decided to break it down and do one room at a time... So far all we have done is the tiny downstairs loo and the entrance hallway. So next up is the master bedroom. First step was dressing table, which was easy! I've been dreaming about having a 'grown up' dressing table since I was a little girl and used to sit at my mums whilst she brushed my hair. My dressing table dreams came true in Laura Ashley.. where cream met mink and the dressing table of curves and sophistication made me fall in love.

And while I was at it I got the matching bedside tables.. Because our old white ones didn't make the cut!

So next step is the bed.. I thought I'd share with you all the bed of my dreams I've been hunting for (and still haven't found within my budget) so I figured I'd show you the potential contenders in case any of you are in the same boat..

So I want something soft and luxurious and classic, something sophisticated and a little bit fairy tale like. But more practically, I like to drink my coffee in bed on a Sunday and watch the news, so something comfortable enough to sit up in (AKA: Squishy headboard please) and it can't have a foot because the room isn't very deep but its really long (did that make any sense?!)

So heres the run down of what I've found..

1. Robert Upholstered Bed Frame,  -£283.49

That ultra high, button back headboard with wings and that chunky frame to cradle your mattress. I can't see myself not sleeping in this beauty... And with stud details? Its hard to say no really...

2. Buckfastleigh Upholstered Bed Frame, - £223.99

Who doesn't love a good button back headboard? They're just so classic, I just can't get enough of button back furniture. In this soft luxurious fabric I am loving this bargain from Wayfair.

3. Castello Pewter Bedstead, M&S - £439.20

This ones a little different and doesn't quite fit the bill.. but I just love that pewter metal and it still ticks the fairytale like box. Also, all I need is lots of cushions and I can sit up in bed with my coffee and watch the news to my hearts content... but its also a little more pricey than the others and I just can't decide..

4. Paris Grande Bedframe, NEXT - £725

This is a little more us, understated and simple but also a bit out of the budget..

5. Kensington Boutique Bed, - £1199

Oh if money were no object.. We'd all race to the french bedroom company and indulge in all our fairytale, princess dreams!

6. Amelia Bed, Laura Ashley - £1500 (But currently on sale for just £750!!! and the mattress is included!)

So thats all I can come up with on the bed front! If you've seen anything better please drop me a message, I could use all the help I can get!

In the meantime, I'll continue waffling on and showing you my bedroom wishlist / checklist..

Charlotte Pewter Full Length Mirror, NEXT - £280

Along with the other 40% of the nation (or so it seems on Instagram) I am dying for the Laura Ashley Josette wallpaper in Dove Grey.. Its just so pretty!

Jose Wallpaper, Dove Grey, Laura Ashley - £34.00 a roll.

If you haven't heard of Lauren Aston yet you need to check out what she does, she is one of the most creative and talented people I've found on instagram and its certainly no secret that I'm saving for one of her beautiful chunky throws for the foot of my bed..

Woolacombe Throw, Lauren Aston Designs - £180

The Ikea lamps of affordable dreams.. I'm obsessed with these and the ceiling light was the first thing I fitted in our bedroom, the lamps soon followed...

Arstid Bedside table lamps, IKEA - £16 each.

Arstid Ceiling Light, IKEA - £30

I recently found Olive Et Oriel on intsagram and completely fell in love with their prints, I've set my heart on their Handscripted Love Print for above my bed.

Love Print, Olive Et Oriel - from £11.64

So after I've EVENTUALLY bought all of the above, all I'll need is some baby pink cushions to tie in with the walk in wardrobe (which I am yet to paint baby pink) and contrast our grey bedding... Let me know if you find any better bed options for me... Its always apprechiated!

Thanks for reading, I'll keep you posted on the house a home situation..

With love, M. xx
